The body of Tadeusz Kantor’s work nowadays, in the era of the return to the self-agency of objects, in the lens of new materialisms concept, Bio-objects, systems of things connected with a human, machines, artisan constructions and lowest ranked items against modern androids, hybrids, and cyborgs. Kantor’s works in the network of connections with the operations by young artists – we will consider the self-agency of objects in the context of the culture of memory. Gallery description
The Gallery-Studio of Tadeusz Kantor was first made available in 1995, five years after the Artists’ Death. This is the place where Tadeusz Kantor created his last works between 1987 and 1990. Inside, in the Artists’ Room, the visitor can find original furniture, personal objects, writings, drawings, travel souvenirs. The way this room is arranged lets us see a bit into the personality of the Artist who thought those modest conditions were enough to work in. Next room had been made into a Gallery in which temporary exhibitions showcase Tadeusz Kantor’s works.
Inviting the Curatorial Collective into this space is the way for this institution to open for new activities and expand its programme. It is also an attempt to confront Tadeusz Kantor’s works with those of the invited artists.
