DESCRIPTION
Artist Kuba Krokosz, in collaboration with Bałuckiego 15 Collective, in an exhibition titled “I love gas stations at night” expresses his emotions and fears through virtual reality (VR) aesthetics through a created desolate space that is explored during lonely night trips between gas stations. This subjective experience evokes an unsettling feeling of perpetual anticipation, while alluding to one of the greatest phobias of the 21st century person – the fear of contemplation. The title of the work comes from an Internet copypasta – copypastas are mainly created in a humorous way, in the form of a story-like text, copied and distributed on the Internet, treated as a kind of the Internet meme.
GALLERY INFO
Bałuckiego 15 Collective is an artist-run space founded in 2018 by Anna Huk, Michał Iwański, Michał Myszkowski, Ola Nenko and Piotr Zięba in a former 1970s car repair shop in Stare Dębniki. In our activities we combine a variety of visual media. We establish close relationships with the local community by organizing events and collaborating with cultural institutions, promoting artists in the visual arts and music. We create a safe space by supporting the initiatives and activities of young people.
