DESCRIPTION
Exhibition related to the jubilee of the 5th anniversary of the gallery’s existence. The 20th exhibition in “Baszta” will be constructed from the artifacts of the previous 19 exhibitions. It will consist of both physical objects and documentation of works in the form of records, audio, video and photographs. From this list, a summary of the last 5 years is to emerge, but also an answer to the question of whether “art always wins”? At the same time, we reverse the main principle of the gallery’s functioning, which is the presentation of site-specific works. This time, the starting point is already existing works.
GALLERY INFO
The exhibitions at “Baszta” are set in the context of an unusual architectural space – the ruins of a 16th-century tower under conservation protection. Invited artists present site-specific installations and performative actions. A common feature of all exhibitions is their contemplative character, resulting from the specificity of this place. From mid-2022, “Baszta” gradually came under the care of Maria Varlygina, a curator from Kharkiv. The current exhibition is a symbolic closure of this transition.
