Event description
The rules of openness of art have been realized in Otwarta Pracownia for 25 years. They originate from the deep reflection on the uncertainty of changes happening in the art at art’s end, Poland at the end of communism and the world at the end of history. The openness of the Gallery in this case is shown not in an opposition questioning everything, but rather on a constructive examination of the complexity of the situation. On of the aspects of it was showing, considered archaic and obscure at the time – paintings. The exhibition is the recor of this research of art’s openness.
Gallery description
‘Otwarta Pracownia’ gallery exists in Cracow’s Kazimierz for 25 years. It is a self-financing association existing outside the institutional circuit. It held over 300 individual and collective exhibitions, lectures, performances and meetings and additionally published 60 critique books and catalogues.
