Reflection – exhibition: unobvious portrait. It is the interaction of the viewer with the imagined. It is a field for reflection on the present as a resultant of what was, what is becoming and is, with what will be. Reflection means: impression, mirror image, thoughtfulness, shadow, glare, contemplation – all meanings have their justification, they refer to the presented works at different levels. Reflection by Alek Janicki is, once again, a space,and objects in which the viewer becomes a subject, active in the interaction proposed by the artist.

Apteka Gallery, Józefińska 43, Cracow. The younger sister of i! Gallery, Aleksander Janicki’s private gallery, the seat of the AYA Found, which combines artistic undertakings: exhibitions, concerts and performances with the social context.

APTEKA Janicki Gallery has taken over the space of a former pharmacy – as if against gentrification and consumerism, at the same time in line with post-materialist tendencies. Józefińska 43 – this is where prescriptions were once filled, medicines were dispensed, and comfort and hope were sought in physical discomfort. Today, this place offers a slightly different form of treatment, offering a “cure for all evil” available to all on blank prescriptions.

For many years it has presented the work of major artists such as Willi Sasnal, Jasiu Simon, Pawel Janicki, Karolina Kowalska and artists of the younger generation such as Weronika Hapczenko and Grupa Wtorek. Alek Janicki’s own gallery is the seat of the AYA FOUND Foundation where the program CULTURE FUTURE e-POLIS is carried out.
