You step on it every day, although you don’t always feel it, having layers of concrete under your feet. You don’t see the 670 species of earthworms burrowing intricate corridors in it, or the chemical processes that make plant growth possible.

The soil is a living organism, an ever-changing skin covering the Earth. The divine material from which the human species was fashioned. It is constantly shaping and being shaped, even by you. Being eternal itself – it is the place of beginning and end. No matter what you do in life, the soil will eventually accept you.

The attic of the tenement house at 5 Mikołajska Street, a previously forgotten, littered vacant lot without glass in the windows, was taken care of and renovated by the MIMS duo – Michał Iwanicki and Mikołaj Sazonov. They turned a neglected space into a studio and a film and photo studio. Today, it is a place of artistic work, connecting various environments, developing artistic skills, and open to all kinds of initiatives and creative meetings. Currently, the artistic Grupa Gruz is permanently operating at the gallery.
