The artists invited to participate in the exhibition face the problem of artistic recording of a conversation between people. Such a record turns out to be a real challenge, especially in relation to important, difficult to conduct, affective, life-changing conversations – those that themselves turn out to be comparable to works of art. Irreducible to text, conversations-works are always on the verge of reproducibility – and although they can merge with life, they are constantly threatened by oblivion.

A gallery, a club, a meeting place and an artistic residence. It was established in 2016 in a tenement house at 7 Adama Asnyka Street in Krakow. It is situated in the basement where most of the music events take place, as well as in the attic, which is an unusual – and sometimes demanding – space for the presentation of contemporary art. The Patron of Elementarz is Bertolt Brecht, from whom the name of the entire project was borrowed (from the poetic series “Aus dem Lesebuch für Städtebewohner”). Following on from Brecht, we support the development of socially conscious and aesthetically experimental activities in the visual arts, electronic music and related fields.
